Xylophones

The balaphon is a traditional West African percussion instrument that resembles a xylophone. Created by Senegalese balaphone builders, each balaphon includes eight wooden notes and calabash gourd resonators. The entire piece is lashed with cotton cord.

These beautiful African musical instruments are as inviting to the eye as to the hand. Mallets included.

Tubalophone or Nadi Tarang is a versatile sound source. The strong resonating quality of the aluminum tubes is equally attractive to the beginner as well as the creativity of experienced performers! In English, "tarang" translates to wave, where "nadi" can be translated as tube, channel, or flow, referring to the network of channels through which energy travels through the body.

Vaima Arts Trust is an amazing organization that uses music and creative arts to empower, rehabilitate, and advocate for marginalized members of their communities. Officially started in 2017, they teach the people they work with how to play, and create Zimbabwean instruments. "Vaima," a Shona word meaning "shine bright," encapsulates their mission to spread joy and creativity using music.
